Cooperative housing societies and residents' welfare associations in the state have now been directed to grant no-objection certificates to install electric vehicle charging points within seven days of the date of application, provided they meet all the criteria.

Honda India’s energy subsidiary, Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt Ltd (HEID) in a joint venture with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has begun operations for its battery swapping services in the state capital. The Honda e:swap battery services will promote emobility and will be operated by HEID at BMRCL Metro stations across the city.

EV energy startup Exponent Energy today announced a partnership with Park+ (EV charger installer) to deploy 1,000 rapid charging stations across India by the end of 2023, starting with Bengaluru.

The West Bengal government on Wednesday said that it is planning to set up 1,000 electric vehicle charging stations across the state over the next two years. With this, the state government aims to encourage greater adoption of environment-friendly vehicles, reports PTI. This move comes at a time when several state governments across India, along with the central government, have been pushing for greater electric mobility adoption under their respective EV policies.

Bengal would have almost 850 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along state and national highways by the end of 2024 to ensure vehicles' batteries never ran out of charge, said Bengal power secretary S Suresh Kumar, allaying fears among motorists that they might be left without charge in the middle of a dark and deserted highway. Range anxiety is the primary reason why many vehicle buyers are hesitant about switching to EVs.

India would require around 63,000 charging stations and cumulative investments of Rs 269 billion (Rs 26,900 crore) for setting up the charging stations over the next five years to cater to the growing demand for power for operating EVs.

In November 2021, Honda Power Pack was established to begin battery swap service in India starting with electric auto rickshaws. The battery swap service will enable rickshaw drivers to stop by at the nearest battery stations being setup across the selected cities and swap discharged batteries (Honda Mobile Power Pack e:) with fully charged ones.

"To clear confusion in the minds of people about EVs, we have partnered with a private agency to bring the EV Expo to Kolkata to spread awareness. We hope to set up 1000 charging stations in the next 2 years," Kumar told reporters announcing that the 16th EV EXPO and an EV Rally will be held in Kolkata later this week.

A private consumer expectation survey on Monday showed that around 66% of Indians said that electric vehicles will surpass petrol and diesel cars by 2030. The survey also showed that a majority of Indian consumers, around 57%, want to invest in EVs because of their practical benefits while 56% want to purchase an EV because it is good for the environment.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made it mandatory for over 500 under-construction residential buildings with more than 25 flats each to have charging stations for electric vehicles (EV). If a building houses 100 flats, it should have four EV charging stations. Earlier, it was voluntary for buildings to have EV charging stations.

A United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) team recently conducted physical inspection of the proposed sites identified by the civic body to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging station across the city.

India is unlikely to link the likely subsidy for battery swapping to adherence of standards, to be announced soon. Existing electric vehicle manufacturers are opposed to homogenous swapping standard.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) invites proposals for the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for the public at designated locations in Pune. PMC has issued a list of 92 locations at PMC-owned parking facilities, gardens, hospitals, and auditoriums for installing charging stations.

After 2025, only Electric Vehicles will be allowed to purchase and phase out all fossil fuel based commercial fleets and logistics vehicles in all cities by 2030.
