City fire brigade station officers who go for awareness lectures regarding fire safety to housing societies would be including the new guidelines for EV charging infrastructure in the talks very soon, chief fire officer Sanjay Manjrekar said.

Electric vehicle charging points will not be permitted in automated mechanised car parking system, stacked car parking or car parking towers, according to new guidelines issued by Mumbai fire brigade.

Taking a cue from neighbouring NMMC, the Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has decided to set up at least five charging stations for electric vehicles under the civic body’s jurisdiction.

Parking of vehicles other than electric vehicles (EVs) will now be prohibited in designated charging areas in housing societies and parking lots of malls. E-scooters cannot be taken to different floors or individual flats for charging purposes.

Strengthening its network of electric vehicle charging facilities, the Delhi government will soon start installing “kerbside chargers” across the city. As a pilot project, it will deploy 150 such chargers across 60 PWD roads, where vehicle parking facilities are available.
